SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 47

Directing the joint committee on government and finance to
conduct a study of the actuarial soundness of the municipal
police and firefighters pension funds.
Whereas, Municipal police and firefighters pension funds
are not currently under the supervision and control of the
consolidated public retirement board; and
Whereas, Actuarial funding problems faced by various state
retirement systems may also affect municipal police and
firefighters pension systems; and
Whereas, The actuarial soundness of municipal police and
firefighters funds should be carefully reviewed; therefore, be
it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the joint committee on government and finance is
hereby directed to authorize the committee on pensions to
conduct a study of the actuarial soundness of municipal police
and firefighters pension funds; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the joint committee on government
and finance report to the regular session of the Legislature,
1996, on its findings, conclusions and recommendations, together
with drafts of any legislation necessary to effectuate its
recommendations; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the expenses necessary to conduct
this study, to prepare a report and to draft necessary
legislation be paid from legislative appropriations to the joint
committee on government and finance.
